    The Position

    The Director of New Product Introduction (NPI) is responsible for establishing and managing new product introduction plans from product development thru volume manufacturing.  The Director of NPI is responsible for the materials plan, formalizing the Approved Vendor List (AVL), establishing product BOM and assembly structures, rolled up product costs, establishing manufacturing processes, ensuring that manufacturing and supply chain deliverables are complete and accurate, and the development and management of the NPI program budget.  The Director NPI has direct ownership of the DVT, PVT, and MP launch phase gate processes.  The successful candidate will be capable of managing multiple complex priorities simultaneously with a “hands-on” style. The candidate must exemplify true leadership in developing his/her team and leading cross functional teams within the organization.

    • Success and effectiveness of the NPI team consisting of Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, Test Engineering and NPI Program Management.
    • Drive NPI process generation and improvements collaborating with leaders in Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain partners.
    • Lead, motivate and manage through others a diverse engineering and operations team.
    • Work closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Product Management, and Program Management to release new products into volume manufacturing.
    • Track and present key performance indicators (KPI’s), lessons learned, and corrective actions during the NPI process and the first year of production ramp.
    • Leads regular meetings with the Operations team to review project deliverables, budget, and schedules.
    • Review performance of employees regularly
    • Develop and manage NPI budget
    • Makes timely decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
    • Interacts and influences suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
    • Demonstrates effective leadership skills in inspiring, driving, and delivering results through others.
    • Develops and/or upgrades talent as needed to ensure success.
    • Communicates effectively across all levels of the organization, creates a sense of urgency, and inspires a commitment to excellence.
    • Continually strives to improve processes and procedures for areas of responsibility.

    The Person

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
    • 10+ years of relevant NPI, production and/or project management experience.
    • Professional experience in New Product Introduction with an emphasis on interfacing with new product development, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to ensure smooth product start-ups in a factory environment.
    • 5+ years of experience in systems manufacturing environment desired. 5+ years prior experience supervising/managing required.
    • Must have proven project management skills and/or program management experience.
    • Ability to effectively manage time and program costs through activity duration, sequencing, schedule development and control, resource planning, cost estimating, and budget control using program management practices.
    • Broad understanding of key manufacturing areas including: planning, logistics and manufacturing engineering.
    • Ability to work with minimal daily supervision, backed by strong and sound decision-making ability.
    • Demonstrated success in hands-on program management of NPI issues with products utilizing electronic products and custom mechanical components.
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track and resolve issues across multiple programs simultaneously.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, written, and interpersonal skills are required to influence customers (internal and external) and other managers.
    • Experience in working with contract manufacturers desired.
    • Experience leading global teams with regularconference calls during non-standard working hours as needed.
    • Self-starter and ability to effectively work independently.
    • Demonstrated success in a dynamic, team-based environment.
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of time.
