More information about this job

Ranked on INC 5000's list of America's Fastest Growing Companies and Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 500 list. EcoSense is a thriving, rapidly growing LED technology company based in Los Angeles. Our purpose is to invent, inspire, and defy expectations through the lens of technology and the power of light. From Bloomingdales and BMW to Harry Winston and Mall of Emirates, we light the most beautiful spaces in the world.

Ecosense Lighting builds its technology from the ground up – making our own drivers, optics, mechanics and software.  Our power supplies are state of the art firmware-driven, MCU-in-the-loop platforms with some of the highest energy densities in the lighting industry.  Our optics are custom-built designs including TIR, refractive, reflective, and hybrid approaches.  Our mechanics are designed to be compact, elegant, user-friendly and beautiful.  And every product platform is designed to be the best in its category and have the widest range of customer choices, all of which can be built-to-order in two weeks or less.

The Systems Architect for Ecosense Lighting provides the connectivity between different technical disciplines in the product development process, both in the definition phase and just as importantly throughout the program.  When the design mandate is “the best”, every discipline pushes the envelope to achieve something better than has ever been seen before.  But invariably, tradeoffs must be made between size, cost, and capability both at the sub-system and at the system level.  This is where the Systems Architect applies his or her expertise: Providing the cross-functional team guidance on where size, cost, timing and capability tradeoffs are best made to achieve an amazing on-time, on-budget, and on-spec product.

The Systems Architect should have a deep understanding of

  • electronics packaging
  • heat transfer in complex electronic systems
  • precision optics
  • mechanical engineering design and manufacturing methods
  • systems design with illumination grade LEDs

The Systems Architect should have the ability to

  • anticipate potential system-level shortcomings and guide the team around them
  • operate in a highly fluid, multi-disciplinary concurrent design environment
  • build team consensus quickly by guiding concise tradeoff analysis
  • be willing to constructively challenge design, project management or business approaches that are not likely to deliver the desired outcome
  • be comfortable working with both individual engineers and the Leadership Team

The Systems Architect should have

  • BS degree or greater in EE, ME, Optical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in a systems engineering role integrating electronics and optics into mechanical systems
  • 5+ years’ experience in a leadership role developing LED illumination systems
  • A desire to build the best LED lighting products in the world
