  • Position Overview

    The Director of Business Development will be responsible for managing and build a large ecosystem of partners in North America and International markets. new product introduction plans from product development thru volume manufacturing.  The Director of Business Development will establish and preserve market analysis of potential partners, leveraging internal and external data to launch priority ranking and overall impact. This individual will be seasoned and have prior experience in the venture capital, private equity or technology start-up worlds. The ideal candidate with have prior M&A experience and is highly numerate.  Must be comfortable working hand in hand with Product Development and Engineering teams to construct first rate business plans including product feature sets, monetization schemes and financial projections.     The Position

    • Capable of deconstructing a market space and teasing out its critical attributes, creating competitive benchmarking and defining “white spaces”
    • Lead the end-to-end creation of business plans and strategies for new ventures
    • Works strategically with Product Development, Engineering, Marketing and Operations teams to determine "buy vs. build" trade-offs while providing key business insights
    • Very strong communicator who can directly lead conversations with ecosystem partners as well as drive partnership agreements
    • Able to cultivate executive-level relationships with high profile companies
    • Capable of creating a vetting rubric and effectively assessing partners, acquisitions, etc. against the rubric
    • Very comfortable creating complex financial models
    • Capable of distilling and communicating complex ideas
    • Communicates effectively across all levels of the organization, creates a sense of urgency, and inspires a commitment to excellence
    • Continually strives to improve processes and procedures for areas of responsibility

    The Person

    It is desired that the candidate has the following qualifications for the position:


    • Bachelor’s degree, MBA or other advanced business degree (or demonstrated equivalent work experience) is required
    • 10+ years in software, private equity, M&A, business consulting or venture capital
    • Strong technical foundation; engineering or technical background critical
    • Successful track record in leading, executing and closing M&A deals
    • Demonstrated ability to partner cross-functionally within the organization
    • Ability to work with minimal daily supervision, backed by strong and sound decision-making ability
    • Demonstrated success in hands-on program management of NPI issues with products utilizing electronic products and custom mechanical components
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to track and resolve issues across multiple programs simultaneously
    • Excellent communication, presentation, written, and interpersonal skills are required to influence customers (internal and external) and other managers
    • Experience in working with contract manufacturers desired
    • Experience leading global teams with regularconference calls during non-standard working hours as needed
    • Self-starter and ability to effectively work independently
    • Demonstrated success in a dynamic, team-based environment
    • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of time
